Aditya College of Allied Health Sciences, Bengaluru, is observing World Suicide Prevention Day 2026 through Project Umeed – A Campus That Listens, based on the theme “Changing the Narrative on Suicide.” The initiative focuses on creating awareness about suicide prevention, mental health and emotional wellbeing while encouraging students and faculty to engage in open, supportive and compassionate conversations.
Project Umeed highlights the importance of talking, listening and preventing. A simple conversation can make a meaningful difference, and creating an environment where individuals feel heard, understood and supported can contribute to a safer and more caring campus community.
The programme features Mr. Prashant Naik, Police Inspector, Yelahanka Police Station, who will speak on “When Safety is at Risk – The Role of Police in Suicide Prevention & Crisis Response,” and Dr. Manasa, Psychiatrist, Manipal Hospital, Yelahanka, who will address “Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing.” Their sessions will provide valuable perspectives on crisis response, safety, mental health and the importance of seeking support.
The event will be held on Thursday, 10 September 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Auditorium, Aditya College of Allied Health Sciences, Bengaluru. Through Project Umeed, the college aims to strengthen a culture of empathy, awareness and support among students and faculty.
